Google announces Android One smartphones by Micromax, Karbonn and Spice

Google's Sundar Pichai has announced the Android One program at Google I/O 2014, which is a turnkey program, helping manufacturers create high quality Android phones easily. Notably, Google is working with India's Micromax, Spice and Karbonn for the first set of Android One devices.

Pichai, who is Google's Senior VP for Android and Chrome also announced that the Micromax device would feature a 4.5-inch display, dual-SIM capabilities, FM radio and microSD card support. This phone will just cost $100 or Rs.6,003.
Additionally, it was announced that these phones will receive automatic updates for localised apps from the Google Play store and they will run on a stock version of Android just like Google's Nexus smartphones and Google Play edition devices. Google will even push direct OS updates like on its Nexus devices.
